Yes. Wholesale products are for all types of hair, even when they say it's just for one. Ex. Curly hair, it won't work as good as salon product. Salon products are for all types of hair and they work much better. And I believe they at more pH balanced.

  1. Wholesale refers to items purchased at a discount by retailers, who then resell them to the public. I think you mean what's the difference between salon products and over the counter products (available at the grocery store), so I'll answer that question-
As a stylist, I believe strongly that salon products are worth the money. The main difference is that salon products are more concentrated so you use less product than with store product. Put about 1/2 what you're used to using in your hand and rub your hands together to break it up and distribute it across your hands. Then slide hands into your hair at the scalp and begin to lather. Store product has more water so you use about twice as much and the price ends up balancing out. The ingredients in salon product are also more effective than what is used over the counter. Even salon only lines that go over the counter end up reformulating and watering down to make the price competitive. Salon products that are in the store, such as Paul Mitchell often is, have been diverted from their proper distribution -illegally- and have to be stored off market for a while. By the time they get to the store, the botanical ingredients have begun to break down and lose their effectiveness. This is why you'll see a disclaimer that the product is only guaranteed by the company if purchased at a salon.
