What reason would give my mother to say no to me wanting my hair highlighted? Info hair highlights

Question by palmtrees_14: What reason would give my mother to say no to me wanting my hair highlighted?
I am 14 years old and I have been wanting to get my hair highlighted since I was 12 years old. My mom says no because I have to wait until I am 15. Do you think its more than that? She owes me five dollars and I told her that if she got me the hair kit, she wouldn't have to pay me back. How can I convince her to let me get them? She lets me straighten my hair, but not the highlights. Please give me some advice. Thanks

coloring your hair is a pain! once you start you have to keep doing it over and over and over and over and . . . well you get the point. plus the kits you buy never come out as well as the salon, so she may be worried that it will really ruin your hair.

  1. Tell her to give you the five dollars then go out and buy it! :)
Highlight your hair (its simple) and wash it out (don't tell her).
After that, theres nothing she can do really..

    :)

  2. I honestly think you can live without highlights because I personally don't always like them anyway. I mean it depends. But if you want just show her some pictures of girls your age that have them and that look cute and reasonable.

    Mine too please!

  4. my daughter is 11 and i let her highlight her hair. mine is also highlighted though. i guess it just depends on the parent. i would not highlight without her permission though. wait till your 15 if thats what she wants. you dont have that long to wait.

    especially since school is coming.

my friend got blonde highlights and it looked like crap!
and she got called "skunk head"
    and made fun offff.

it looks good on her now that it's set in.

but it takes months for it to look okay to me.

    idk, but please dont.

that's probably a reason why you're mom said no.

  6. If you got highlights you have to keep getting them redone and the bleach may be damaging on your hair, especially as you're younger. Listen to your mum, shes probably right. Sorry to say it!

  7. Start asking to dye your hair blue! Then highlights won't seem so bad. LOL :D
