This is part of my 100 Strangers project, and here's the link to the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page. I'm too tired to do the description now though, so I'll be back tomorrow :P Night peeps.

edit: I'm back. Thinking about the circumstances to this shot, I'm not entirely sure it's eligible for inclusion in the 100 Strangers project, simply because I didn't really spend much time at all chatting with either of these two. They were actually part of a group of about 6 or 7 teenagers, just hanging out on a Friday night by the Hippie Green near Grey's Monument. I was walking home from a few fun hours of shooting the town as it woke up for the weekend debauchery, when I passed them all and noticed Ruben's fairly crazy hairstyle. I had to get a shot and when I asked him he readily obliged. I'm not yet at the point where I feel I can (or that's it's even right to) just interrupt the a group's conversation and/or evening to take more than a few quick shots, so I speedily got a couple of just Ruben and then asked Sofie if anyone else wanted to jump in. They both wanted to get their tall mate in on it, but he wasn't having any of this nonsense :P But I like the candid shot of them beckoning to him to join in! After these were taken, I just thanked them for the shots, asked both their names, told them where to find the pics and bid them all a good weekend before going on my merry way. Sooo, cheers to both of you Ruben & Sofie, for being such willing participants - without peeps like you, the 100 Strangers project would just be full of dodgy looks & sneers :D

A little note about the diptych here. I made it as a custom template in Lightroom, but the result wasn't precise - basically, if you're going to combine 2 images that both have the same 2:3 ratio, but you want to orient them in different directions like here, the ratio you need to get perfect scaling is 6:13. I did the math and if any teachers want to see my work, here it is. The thing is, seeing as I wanted to set up a custom template in Lightroom for this (to make further similar diptychs quicker to produce) and doing so requires using the Print module, I first had to set up a custom print size of 6"x13" for Adobe's PDF printer. It seems like this would then fit, right? Wrong. It's a hair too big and I don't really get why, but it meant that one of the thin white lines bordering the images would have been a shade fatter. And that is unacceptable, and required that I edit out some pixels in Photoshop afterwards, which is a bit of a pain in the arse and really shouldn't be necessary :( So, my advice to anyone about to set up a similar template is, even though the math should be fine at 6:13, set up a paper size of 6"x12.95" instead and just crop a teenie-tiny bit of one of your pics. Cheers y'all :D
