Mark's Makeover (Natural Light Portrait Group Shoot, Sept 12, 2009).
The Makeover shoot: take two nearing 50 year old men and give them a new image. Firstly, there was the haircut with the incomparable Fadi. Then the visit with the stylist at Westfield Kotara as the boys updated their look, then down to Newcastle baths for some portrait shots.
The Baths are a favourite spot for wedding photographs, and there were a number of groups there. One group of browny/beige clad bridesmaids were overheard commenting that Ken and Mark (in their newly acquired pastels) must have been a gay couple getting married. We corrected them, telling them it is still illegal for gay people to marry in Australia, so it was therr commitment ceremony photos.
Another highlight of the day was at the barber. The client before Ken and Mark was Angelo, a bodybuilder competing in his first competition the following day. The photographers promptly totally deserted the Makeover boys, to go round the corner and get some wonderful shots of Angelo the Magnificent (sorry guys!).
