It depends on the rate your hair grows. Your can can grow 0 inches to 12 inches in one year. If you have used heat and/or harsh chemicals on your hair in the past, it may grow slower than it should. I can give you some tips to help your hair grow out!
To help your hair grow take B vitamins (B vitamins such as folic acid can be found in your everyday food such as cereal) , drink lots of water, massage your scalp when you wash your hair, trim your split, dead, or damaged ends, eat lots of protein, and don't use a lot of heat on your hair, but if you do, use a heat protectant. If your hair is dry, use sulfate free shampoo and alcohol free conditioner. (sulfates and alcohol dry out the hair), and use a good moisturizer. (You can tell if your hair is dry by rubbing it together, you'll hear it. If you hear very little to no sound it is not dry.) Do not use a brush on wet hair, it will stretch it and cause it to break. Also use mineral oil free and petroleum free products. Mineral oil and petroleum prevent the hair from receiving moisture. If your hair is naturally curly, never use a brush on your hair because your hair can get caught in the bristles and it would break your hair and cause it to be frizzy. So, use a wide tooth comb instead. Perms and Relaxers damage the hair. They can make the your hair fall out, and can also get inside of your blood stream, and if you were to have kids one day the perm/relaxer ingredients would interfere with your kid's eyes and cause them to have bad vision. Watch the movie "Good Hair" just to see what a perm/relaxer does to a soda can in just a few hours. If you have ever used heat on your hair it the past you may have little to no hair growth.
So basically,Use the right hair care products for your hair type. Eat lots of protein and take your vitamins. Do not go longer than 2 weeks without washing your hair. Be sure to condition after you shampoo. DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR UNTIL ITS SQUEAKY CLEAN!( If it is squeaky clean (you can hear it squeaking) it means you have stripped your hair of its natural oils that it needs to be healthy and grow.) Deep condition at least once per month. Use a clarifying shampoo at least once per month to remove excess build up off of your scalp.
Routine Tips:
Trim your hair ONLY when you have split ends because there is no reason to cut off healthy ends.
Washing Hair Tips (for straight hair):
1.First un-style your hair.
2.If you have any flakes or build up scratch most of it out with a wide tooth comb.
3. Rinse your hair.
4. Shampoo your hair. Only use a dime or quarter size amount to wash it. Focus the shampoo on your scalp because shampoo was originally made to clean the scalp. Massage your scalp with the shampoo, too.
5. Rinse your scalp and hair (roots)with cool to cold water.
6. Condition your hair. Follow the directions on the conditioner bottle. Focus the conditioner on your hair and try not to get it on the scalp.
7. Rinse your hair with cold water.
8. Let your hair air dry.
9. (optional) oil/moisturize your hair. If you use an oil on your hair, make sure that oil is the ONLY ingredient so you know that the oil is what the product is made mostly and only of.
10. Brush your hair with a boar bristle brush because the boar bristles take the natural oils from your scalp/roots to the ends of of your hair.
11. Style your hair. (Do not style your hair in tight hairstyles. The tight hairstyles will stretch and break your hair.)
Washing Hair Tips (for curly/dry hair):
1.First un-style your hair.
2.If you have any flakes or build up scratch most of it out with a wide tooth comb.
3. Rinse your hair.
4. Shampoo your hair using "beat up" eggs.(If your hair is thick, use 2. If your hair is thin, use 1.) Focus the shampoo on your scalp, then to the ends of your hair. Massage your scalp with the eggs, too.
5. Let it stay on/in your hair for 20-30 minutes.
6.Rinse your scalp and hair with cool to cold water.
7. Condition your hair. Follow the directions on the conditioner bottle. Focus the conditioner on your hair and try not to get it on the scalp.
8. Rinse your hair with cold water.
9. Let your hair air dry.
10. (optional) oil/moisturize your hair. If you use an oil on your hair, make sure that oil is the ONLY ingredient so you know that the oil is what the product is made mostly and only of.
11. Comb your hair with a wide tooth comb.
12. Style your hair. (Do not style your hair in tight hairstyles.)
Try to create fun, cute hairstyles for your growing hair! Good luck!
