Week 5 has been about the blue skies (not pictured), old friends and new ones (not pictured), caring very much about people and cats (not pictured) and generally Progress (not pictured).
Also this week I've been wishing that things could be as simple as they are in comics. I used to think and wonder quite a lot about being a mutant when I was younger, although the antics of most of the X-Men were maybe a bit cheerful for my liking; oddly enough, I identified more with John Merrick, the Elephant Man. So anyway, in the universe I occupy, there are no Brotherhoods of Evil Mutants or Leagues of Super Friends (well, okay, maybe I do have some pretty damn super friends); no good guys and bad guys; no predictable arcs, no explicable origin stories, no ride-off-into-the-sunset conclusions -- and it sometimes feels like there's no character development, but I'm sure there is. Still, every now and again I do feel like it would perhaps be nice to know where this story's going; to be able, if I so chose, to skip ahead to the end and see if there's a happy ending, see who makes it.
We'll get there soon, though.
